The Dutch palace is also known as Mattanchery palace locates in mattachery cochin,12km from ernakulam. The ceilings of this palace is Intrinsically carved and mural in the rooms of the palace are main attractions. The themes of the paintings depict scenes from Ramayana. Besides puranic legends connected with Shiva, Vishnu, Krishna and Durga The palace was built around 1545 AD by the Portuguese and presented to Veera Kerala Varma. This two-storied quadrangular building has long and spacious halls. There are two more temples dedicated to Lord Krishna and Shiva respectively. In 1951, Mattancherry Palace was restored and declared a centrally protected monument. This palace is built in the traditional style of architecture known as Naalukettu
