ezhimala hills

Ezhimala is a seven peaked mountain. It is situated about 55km from Kannur and 7km from the Payyannur. The heap of the mountain has a height of 286 m above the sea level. The hills are rich in some of the rare medicinal plants. It is a historically significant place. It was the head quarters of the Ezhimala Kings during the Sang period. Later it was the capital of the Mushika Kings. This area was formerly known as ezhil mala which mean as high hillocks. It was one of the major battle fields of the Chola Chera war of the 11th century. The major attractions in Ezhimala are burial chambers, caves, platforms etc at the bottom of the hills which indicate that these areas were possessed from the ancient times itself. During the ancient time it was the center of the trade and Arab merchants used to come to Ezhimala. It is believed that once Lord Buddha had visited Ezhimala. On the top of the hill you can view the ancient mosque . It is bel. The nearby attractions in Ezhimala are Ezhimala beach a very popular beach which offers scenic beauty of coconut trees and sun light piercing through them, Mount Deli light house which is preserved by the navy and if u want to visit there u must get the permission and hanuman temple, it is believed that Ezhimala hill was formed when Lord Hanuman was carrying the herb Mrithasanjeevani to Srilanka a part of the hill break and fell down at the current place.

Best Time to Visit:January is the best time to visit because the temperature is suitable.
