Vellarimala is one of most beautiful and attractive hill station in Kerala. It is situated 15km from Thiruvambadi in Kozhikode district. It is a part of western ghat mountain ranges and it is also known as Camel’s hump mountains. The place is blessed with verdant landscapes, dotted with brooks, breath taking waterfalls, gurgling cascades and smell of hygienic air. Vellarimala is situated 6333ft above sea level. Kanjirapuzha river a tributary of Chaliyar river, weaves through the rocky terrain which create many breath taking waterfalls It is one of the most popular trekking destinations. The trek start at Muthappanpuzha near Anakkampoyil The climb to the peak take one full day and which is a breath taking experience to the visitors. You can see the roaring waterfalls coming from the towering cliff and narrow streams cascading down the rocks during the dry season also. Most of the hill range falls in the Meppady Forest Range of South Wayanad Division with some parts falling Thamarassery Range of Kozhikode Division. The block of compact high mountains is semi contiguous with Nilagiri hills. The major attractions in Vellari mala is Olichuchattam waterfalls which is 6km away from Muthappanpuzha on the way to Vellarimala, which is the first trekking point. The natural beauty of this water falls attracts many tourist to this place.
