Nelliampathy is a beautiful hill station located 60km away from Palakkad It is surrounded by tea and coffee plantations. The place is blessed with excellent weather condition. The height of the hills ranges from 467m to 1572m. Nelliampathy is covered with natural lush green forests and wild animals like elephants hill squirrels and bison. While reaching Nelliampathy there are about 10 hair pin bends with breath taking views of valleys and mountains covered in a green blanket. Ponthundi dam is a picturesque tourist spot located 9km away, which provides facilities for boating. The dam lies on the foot of the Nelliampathy hills. The view of Ponthundi dam at height is really awesome. The hills are home to more than 215 species of birds and 90 species of butterflies and some of the rare species of birds like grey breasted laughing thrush, great pied hornbill etc. Nelikota Mountain is 1572 m high and which is the highest in the region. Other major attracting peak points in Nelliampathy are Vela Vanchan, Mayanmudi Vellachimudi and Valiyavana. Another famous picnic spot is Seethakundu with 100m waterfall.
