It is a small beautiful hilly town located 11km from Pathanamthitta district. It is a very popular elephant training center in Kerala. The major attraction of training center is the large cages built of wood to house elephants. This gigantic cage is locally known as Aanakoodu. It is also famous for timber trade. It is an important center for cash crop like rubber, pepper, coffee and ginger. This charming village is full of green forests and hills lies on the bank of the mighty Achencoil River. These forests are home to wide varieties of animals. The baby Elephants caught from the forest were tamed and trained here where the tourists can watch these trainee elephants and can observe and understand a lot about their behavior. Another attraction of the town is trekking also possible here. There are varieties of site that are available for adventure trek. Vast expense of lush green forests of Western Ghats add the natural beauty of the landscapes. It is a very attractive tourist spot where you can enjoy trekking, elephant safari, wildlife watching etc. The other attractions of Konni are Alumkudi and Achencoil which are two ancient temples located nearby.
