Kappil Lake is situated at a distance of 8km north of Varkala is a place where the backwaters and beach walks hand in hand and is one of the elite allurements of Kerala with it’s surrounding coconut trees and groves. Situated on the outskirts of the Varkala town, this lake and beach is easily reachable by road. A train trip can provide a panoramic view of the estuary between Edava and Kappil. Varkala Railway Station is the chief railway station near Kappil and is 7kms from Kappil.The nearest airway is Thiruvananthapuram International Airport which is 48kms from Kappil. Vettekada beach is a notable spot near Kappil lake and beach. The beach has not been yet flooded with shops and eateries and is also one of the cleanest in the state.
